*
Parents are encouraged to model courtesy and respect to all .
We must ever be mindful that we represent, not only the ideal
for the youth of the club, but also represent USPC, Inc.
to the community at large by your association.

an effort to be good stewards of the resources and privileges

RALLY TEAMS
Members
who are in good standing, safely mounted and interested are
encouraged to attend rally. The Rally Chair, an adult
sponsor, has the primary responsibility for determining who is
qualified to attend rally and for setting competition teams. The rally experience brings into
play the best of Pony Club through encouraging teamwork,
independence and the all important horse management skills of
members. The Team Manager (Horse Manager), who is a youth
member, is a vital member of
the team and in support of that position, this club pays entry fees
for the TM/HM to the rally as long as treasury funds are available.
The TM/HM is a manager there to organize and support team members,
acting as a facilitator, not serving as a personal groom to
the team. TM/HM's are encouraged to participate in clinics
associated with the rally whenever graciously offered by the
Region..
Private Property Riding
Etiquette
- Remember that it is a privilege to
ride as a guest.
Always confirm permission before
riding out on land. Sometimes what was acceptable yesterday changes
today. For instance the owner may have used pesticides that could
harm your pony. If we are not sure who owns it then we
will not ride
there! Trespassing (especially on horseback) can makes land owners
angry.
- Ride only in areas expressly permitted
by your leader.
For instance, you may be at a clinic on
host property, your group is finished, and you think it would be a
good idea to go for a trail ride on such a beautiful piece of
property or do additional schooling. This type of activity, if
allowed will be confirmed by your leader and the land owner
before the activity and announced beforehand. No member of the club
or their parent should approach the land owner or their agent to ask
for these privileges. If it isn't offered up front, then
the landowner would rather you not and no one wants to be put in an
awkward position. This leaves a good impression with the land owner
a welcomed return for pony clubbers in the future.
- Stay off lawns, sidewalks, gardens and
picnic areas.
- Avoid breaking branches off trees
or picking wildflowers.
- Clean up manure!
- If riding on farmland, ride around
the perimeter of fields and stay away from crops!
- Leave gates exactly the way you
found them. Be careful not to leave any gate open. When in
doubt, close the gate.
- Leave
livestock alone and do not disturb it.
- Do not take your dog! A loose
dog can cause a horse to spook and be a hazard for horse and
rider!
- Never leave litter behind.
- When you meet anyone else
whether on horseback or foot, greet them and speak politely. It
might be the land owner or his/her guest or friend.
- Be sure to thank the land owner,
leader and instructor before you leave.
DO HAVE A GOOD TIME!
These guidelines are meant for ALL
properties, whether at a home, farm, barn or clinic.
